If your employer required you to work from home, you may be able to claim a portion of your rent, utilities, and internet — but only with a signed Form T2200.
You may be able to claim
- The work-use portion of your rent
- Electricity, heat, and water
- Home internet access fees
- Maintenance and minor repairs
- Office supplies used for work
Watch out
- No signed T2200 from your employer means no claim
- The COVID-era flat-rate method ended after 2022
- Mortgage payments and furniture don't qualify
- Keep every receipt for 6 years

Without a signed T2200, you can't claim employment expenses — it's the employer's certification the CRA requires. Talk to your manager or HR/payroll team, and share our employer guide with them. It covers exactly what they're being asked to certify.
April 30, 2027 [VERIFY] for most people — and any balance owing is due the same day. The CRA hasn't published the 2026-tax-year dates yet; these follow the standing rules. See all deadlines.
